Default remora pro owners

After 3 yrs of cursing my prizm pro skimmer and burning out 2 pumps I've bought a remora pro with a mag 3 pump. My question is, what does everybody do about about the intake of the pump? I have small fish and snails that would be made into mince meat if they get sucked up.
The pump came with a "prefilter" which is a piece of foam (don't want to use because I'd end up having to clean 3 times a day) wrapped around a screen that wouldn't keep out anything

Hey Marie-I have 2 Remora Pro's with the round sponge to go over the end...I don't end up having to clean them overly often...my clown goby sits up there all the time, as do many snails and hermits...have not had any issues with them.....much better skimmer than my Prizm was..UGH! That was a bad skimmer choice on my part....but I think you will like these ones, I do!

Hi, glad you kept the sponge installed. It got lotsa micro organism shrimp and other goodies including waste particles clinging on the sponge, a good spot for creatures like you're snails and crabs would like to hang out on. I find they don't clogged up as bad as you think. The remora pro works just as good. Glad you like yours a good choice. Regards Ken

Do you mean these boxes?

Do they actually fit around a mag350 pump? it would be great if they did because quite frankly these pumps are ugly

I have the pre-filter box on one of my Remora Pro's and at first I found it an eyesore...but now it just blends...and I don't think I have as many micro-bubbles...I would like a 2nd one for the other Remora too....but they are costly!

You guys might want to check www.marinedepot.com . I just got one for my set up and it was quite a bit less then that. Not sure on the shipping for ya though, but it might be worth it.
