Default Replacing Sandbed

I've had my 20G running for over 2 years now, and I was thinking of replacing or removing the sandbed I have. That tank is a pod haven for the larger system and I'm worried about losing all the pods. Does sand go "bad" And need replacing? Does anyone use a gravel filter to clean your sand bed? Thansk.

Any reason you want to replace it?

Rumor was that a sandbed should be replaced on a regular basis. I wasn't sure if there was any truth to that or not.

a sometime's syphon out some of my gravel just cause...it's sand, so I tend not to be very aggressive about it.

Pods don't live in the sand bed but rather in rock so removing you sand bed shoulden't impact your pods. as for actualy removing it don't worry about it if you are not having problems, if you start getting unexplained algae and stuf then replace it then.

i've been getting some gross stuff on my sand and i've been sucking it out with a baster. It takes some sand too, so i'm slowly getting rid of the sandbed.

Love the look of sand, but starting to get tired of the crap on it, and the sandstorms when u try to increase the flow.
