I think that a good rule of thumb for a skimmer is to go with one that is rated for at least twice your total water volume. Most skimmers, with the probably exception of Euroreef, are way over-rated.

i have the 220 on a 60gal in my sump. it takes out huge amounts of green smelly gunk. the water level is just under the rim of the main reaction chamber and the bubbles go up to the bottom of the collection cup. hope this makes sence

when you guys feed the fish or do the water change, does the skimmer turn crazy or lazy?
and how long does it take to back to normal
and is it really sensitive the water level
thanks
