Default Can I stick my skimmer in my sump?

I am asking this question because my skimmer is a HOB type skimmer. Will this affect the way the skimmer works?

It is a Red Sea Berlin Venturi Hang-On Protein Skimmer.

You can always hang in on the back or side of your sump.
(Provided there is enough room )

It will work better cause you can get rid of the U tube from the pump to the skimmer and have the pump go straight in.
