Default Quick question about lighting

. . Hey guys just wondering . . to everyone who has a reef tank . . . How long do you guys leave your lights on??? (just got a new job and I'm trying to keep the lights on longer so I can see them when I get home from work!!) Is 12 hours too much?? I have a 27 gal. About 12 inches from light source to sand bed and I'm running 2x 96watt PC (1-96 true actinic and 1-daylight 10000k approx. 7.2 watts/ gal) Let me know! Thanks . .

Just wondering coz I don't want any algae bloom . . .

My tank runs from 09:00-23:00.. 14 hour day. It suits me fine as I can look at it before work and play with it for a few hours after getting home. I just run T5s, however. If I were running halides, I would run actinics for 14-15 hours and the halides for closer to 8 hours.

Hey Rich! Just thought I'd let u know . . . your the guy who goes to Paul's aquarium right? Well . . . besides finding nemo . . . your tank was half the reason I started a reef tank . . . Paul showed me a pic of your tank and wow!!! He recomended me with the same size tank as yours thats why I got a 27 gal. Paul will be putting up a pic of mine too in his store . . . Check it out ! But hey can you keep acro's in your tank? Any success? So far I'm able to keep neon green acro's / pink tip pocilipora and blue tip acro's . . . I wanna try the really colorful one but I'm too scared to try.

My lighting is a 2x96 watt PC's (might get halides but then again my tank is tiny)

Cheers-

PS. email me if you wanna see my tank

Actinic T-5s I run 14 hours. 10000k PC I run 12 hours. I keep a lot of macro, snails &/or an Indonesian purple tang in the tanks so nuisance algae is not too bad.

Anthony

On my hex, the 20000k T-5 might stay on till 2 am or whatever time I finally go to sleep.
