Default Why are there so few green salt water fish?

Eh Canreef!

Little stumped on this one so I thought I would reach out to see if anyone has some more insight.

Why are there so few green fish in the ocean? Realistically I can only think of a few species of parrot fish, wrasses and mandarins that display the color. I'm sure it has something to do with the way light is perceived by fish eyes under water but my google searches have yielded nothing.

Andddd go!

I remember watching a program several years ago on Discovery channel (when it was a serious science channel) and I remember that the narrator was saying that fish don't see the colour green very well if at all and for mating and schooling purposes not very desirable.

Kinda makes sense to me but then again I might have heard wrong too

Maybe because there are so many green corals that green fish would be redundant.
