Default Price of Salt

Is it me or has IO prices shot up dramatically? and it seems to be highly variable between stores. I noticed that Big Al's price was ~$73 for a bucket!

I then checked out J & L and they are selling a bucket for ~$53, not sure about any of the other stores.

I know the dollar is weaker, but in the past year it has gone from $49 to >$70 at Big Al's. I am just not going to pay that, anyone have any deals hidden away?

It was 30 bucks at King Ed last year really doesn't make sense that the price has doubled. Pretty sure there 35 each if you buy a pallet.

Noticed a few price increases on regular items I pick up at Big Als as well. Not sure why.

$78 delivered to your door for the reef salt (less than 10 days). I really can't emphasis the quality of this salt. I'll never go back... it mixes perfectly, with just the right parameters!

I had used IO since starting last October, but switched to the basic AF sea salt a few months ago when the price was basically the same. The mix parameter consistency is much tighter so far bucket to bucket, and I like that it clears quickly once mixed.

Aquaforest is good as long as you want natural seawater parameters since it mixes up about Ca 410, alk 7.0, and Mg 1250. If you keep higher alk in your tank you'll need to add alk to your waterchange bin.

so I switched over to Aquaforest. I am impressed, now it's hard to find the 25kg boxes of salt! We seem to have cleaned out Amazon :P

Aquaforest now has a reliable Canadian distributor. J&L got their first shipment in last week and more is on the way. Other retailers have, or will have inventory soon. Check with your favorite LFS.
