Default Internal overflow question

So for all you DIYers who have installed there own internal overflow box, do you just silicone it to the very top of the tank up against the plastic frame??? If so how does this work with wave makers?? Thanks

Good questions, especially the one about wave makers.

Being a noob here I would hope that some one will correct me if I am wrong!
The overflow is siliconed to the glass. Attaching to the plastic trim is just asking for a future leak to happen. External overflows usually collect from drilled holes or a cutout. Internal overflows are sized and siliconed to the interior of tank.

Herbie setup is what I have planned for.

Cheers!

I'm a little confused here; are you gluing a sealed overflow box into the tank? Or are you gluing a box that seals using the back wall of the tank? Generally, you'll want to glue wherever the box makes contact with the glass and needs to separate bodies of water.

I am just wondering if you silicone the overflow right up to the very top of the tank or do you leave a space?

Still confused, sorry, haha.

Is your overflow not the entire height of your aquarium?

Can you post a picture of the overflow box?
