Ian I've caught fish before by hanging nori right near the surface and then snatch them up really quickly with a big net

I just built my own out of 2mm acrylic and tried it with trap door with string with food in it but no luck so I set it up in the tank between some rocks and chased him into it with net and tongs so now I have a sailfin tang for sale in my sump

I got the local glass shop to cut me a few pieces of acrylic the same height as the tank and slid them in the tank and cordoned off a few rocks with the fish hiding behind them. Then I pulled out the rocks and fairly easily netted them from inside the acrylic corral. Just a thought if you want to try.
