I only use the Hanna checker for Phosphate testing, to get the desired accuracy (about every 2 or 3 weeks). I use API for Ca, KH and nitrates, not as accurate, but good enough for what I require. And I use Salifert for Mg.

Hanna checkers are expensive along with the required regents. Plus it is not as quick as a color test (like the API ones). I test my Ca and KH every few days (in case I need to adjust my dosers). I only test my Mg just before a water change, so I know how much Mg I need to mix up. I only test nitrates about once a month (always zero, with my bio pellet reactor running).

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

I have a Hanna Phosphate Tester. Tester works, viles are there, but for some reason I cannot find the cap for the viles, but I don't think thats a big deal. You'll need to buy the replacement reagents too. See how it works on the video here:

Sells for $55+ tax, you can have it for $20. Shoot me a text or email.

Also have a brand new one, only opened to look at the contents with 25 extra reagents: will sell it for $60 if you're interested.

Hey good deal with the 25 extra regents for $60.
In my opinion I would just use a Hanna checker for Phosphate testing and use Salifert for the rest of your testing.
