Default Drilling tank this weekend

I'm planning on drilling my tank this weekend and I was wondering what is the minimum distance for my holes? I'm using the herbie overflow,so I need to make 3 holes in the corner of my tank,2 for the overflow and 1 for the return.

Default holes

depends on the thickness of the glass and the size of the hole.i would keep them at least 2-3 inches apart

Why not put the return on the other side of the tank

I should mention it's the bottom that I'm drilling.
The glass is surprisingly thick!I think it's 1/4inch

if the bottom isnt tempered... do the 2 drains in the bottom corner and the return through the back panel on the opposite side with will allow you to have a smaller overflow box (wont take up as my real-estate
