Default Metric PVC is stoopid

Anyone have any ideas on joining what appears to be 50mm UPVC to regular 1.5" PVC? Aside from a dremmel? Which is going to happen really quickly here

Trying to join a gate valve to a Euro Reef skimmer. Gate valve 1.5", skimmer 50mm.
Gate valve now also ~50mm. Dremmel 1, skimmer 0

Silicon hose works wonders as well. I used it to join my abyzz (metric) to imperial pvc.
