Default Too much current???

I have 2 MaxiJets 1200 in my 48x18x18 tank, plus sump return from Mag5. Is it too much current?

Robert

Should be fine for Softies and LPS ;) , but you'll probably need quite a bit more flow for SPS. In my 55 softy/LPS tank I'm going at about 850GPH (Not including overflow) and could probably use another 200 GPH :D .

I don't know if anyone will agree with me or not.
I find that most of my softies adapt over a day or two to any new/stronger current.

I do have differing current (EG.wavemaker) in my tank but when I recently added another powerhead to the tank a few of my corals change their polyp expansion for a little while and then they seem to adapt to the stronger current.

My tank is a 90g 48x18x24 and I have a return from a Little Giant 4mdqx sc with lots of head so lets say 600 to 700 gph from that and another 700gph from powerheads so around 1300 to 1400 gph and my tank is a mixed(sps, lps, softies) tank.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">hey Robert, just for comparason I have 4 maxijet 1200's and a magdrive 12 for a return on my 92 gal (36 x 24 x 25) I have them aranged so that the bottom front is low current for my softies..

Canadian Man, My Torch, fox, and my leather do not light the higher currents at all, they would never have full polyp extraction (for the torch) the leather would alwasy be limp and the fox would be non exsistant in highter currents..

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Stircrazy,
I see what you are saying, and whitnessing it in my tank as well.
The finger leather has seemed to adjust to the higher currents but it's polyps are not expaneded as much as they used to be with lower current in the tank.
