Out of the Marine Hobby into freshwater looking for rams

Wanting to find some rams i would like german blues. I would like some with some realy nice color. If nobody has any does anybody know where i can find some? I really like these fish. Decided to get out of the marine hobby for a year to do reaserch. Plus I am going into grade 12 and i need to focus on other things instead of a marine tank like school work, work, and my gf kinda been neglecking her

not a good thing. So i have decided to do a amazon tank. Tank has been cycled want to add the rams first to establish a territory. So does anybody know where to find some.

If you're going to put other fish in the tank, start with the least aggressive and move up to the most aggressive. So if you plan on keeping for example, a few smaller non-aggressive fish with those rams, add those fish first, then your rams.

How'd you get your tank to cycle so quickly? I thought this tank was started up from scratch?

The tank has been cycling for 3 or 4 weeks now. When i took the tank down and put the marine tank in another aquarium i started the cycle. No other fish will be put in with the ram. Other than angelfish and they are a large breeding pair i have on hold. So i want to get the rams settled before i add those.

i have always had luck with freshwater (knock on wood) i have even kept discus i got rid of them b/c somebody offered me alot of money for my pair.

I had them a year or two. They were pretty nice. Nothing special just browns.

I dont know I will get into the hobby next yar. I figured i will go through this site with a fine toothed comb searching for information. Then i will start my 90 gallon.

might try these i found in less than 3 minutes on google. No idea if they have a good rep or not. Might try going to a freshwater/ciclid forum and ask. they would prolly have a much better idea than most people here.

Well here's my advice on blue Rams.

First there are two choices, a local hobbyist/breeder or imported ones from Asia.

The imported ones will likely have been treated with various medicines/steroids and will probably die in your tank. Besides antibiotics some of these breeders use steriods to prematurely bring out the colors in their fish.

If you want healthy Rams get some bred locally.

I have no idea where in Alberta to get Rams. In Vancouver, Richmond actually, there is a store called Fin-omenal pets that had them last time I visited. I know it was a local breeder because I was there when he brought in his Rams once. If you are serious about wanting Rams phone the ladies at Fin-omenal (look up their website, do a google search) and maybe they can ship you some.

FYI earlier this year I was looking at getting Rams, after a lot of thought I concluded that they were a delicate and sensitive species that might not survive for me. One aspect of this hobby is it takes a lot of self-control to say "No, I won't get that fish, I don't have the time/room/experience to take care of it properly".
