Default Macro lens for iPhone.

So I was at best buy today looking at cameras with the sole intention of taking pictures of my tank. The guy there mentioned a kiosk in the mall that sold lenses for iPhones. So I thought why not?!

Pics are all taken under led, 10% blue 40% white on my it2080.

Macro pics

Brittle star

Astrea snail came out for a bit

Some little critters, pods possibly?

Here are some with a 2x zoom lens

While the macro only works when the object is about 1.5 inches away and not exactly the macro distance I was after, it's still pretty awesome an I'm having fun! With it I got a 2x zoom, wide and fish eye lenses. The brand is "fooonpix" all 4 lenses came to 55 dollars including tax, which isn't bad in my books! I'll have to practice a little more on other things.

Like this pic my girlfriend just took of the cats nose

It's for any model smart phone or tablet. There are magnet stick on circles then the lense has a magnet so you can quick change them. Although I find the glue doesn't hold well on the phone part so I use the supplied plastic clip, considered frag gluing it on but I'm not sure if I'll be using it long term. I'll upload pics tomorrow of the lenses themselves.

I'm using a 4s with ios7 and the stock photo app. Although I did download camera+ I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Apparently it has white balance and a few other neat tricks for 2 bucks it's worth a try.

They're cheaper on ebay if you don't mind the wait, I picked one up for 3$ shipped, pretty cool lenses, you can get ones that come with a case to attach to an iphone or ones that have a self adhesive metal ring that you stick onto the phone and is held to it with magnets

Sweet pictures

Default Macro lens for iPhone.

I guessed eBay would be cheaper but I saw first hand the quality of these. I'm not fond of eBay Chinese quality for the most part.

So here's a few more pics I took today along with the lenses themselves. Using the stock iPhone app as the camera+ app I got keeps crashing.

Blastos with a Facebook photo filter to make the colours pop a bit more using 2x Zoom lens

No filter, using 2x zoom lens

No filter, 2x zoom

Blues turned up a little, shaky hand, yellow tang mouth.

The lenses. 3 lenses, the "wide" lens unscrews to produce the macro lens so 4 in total. Plastic covers. Magnet backs with metal circles and loops for carrying. The circles are supposed to stick to your phone but I found they didn't do that too we'll but the plastic clip works very well and is easy to maneuver.

Overall it's not a bad buy. Although I would try the Chinese models spit fire spoke of before these if I was to do it again. I'll probably use these more outside and get a decent camera for the aquarium. Given that I still can't have any major blues in the picture whereas a good camera could compensate for most of that, an iPhone just can't.

I got the same lenses from that kiosk for my Galaxy S4....some fun to be had, but still no replacement for a good camera. I think I enjoy the 2x lens most.

Definitely not a replacement but keeps me busy the 2x is neat, your galaxy is a better camera than my iPhone so I'm sure you're getting better results. I found bringing them as close to the water surface was the best results.
