Default Green birdsnest is about to hit the surface

This critter is softball sized and on the top of a rock tower
As of tonight it's close to 1/2" from the surface, and I expect it to hit the surface by the end of the month

Should I;

A - let it grow and see what weird shapes it makes. Maybe it'll start to grow sideways, or thicker. But it will block it's own light

B - crop the top half of the colony, then wait for the bottom half to recover from the extra light

C - crop it close to the rock and watch the base bleach out, then hopefully return to normal

D - bust the whole thing off the rock and wait for the encrusted parts to regrow to it's full potential now that my nutrient levels are more under control

Thanks for any input, and if you're interested, keep your eyes open for a coral sale

Best case scenario IMO let it grow and see where it goes, always more interesting to observe something react without human interference then to throw in a road Block.

I think it will just grow thicker and outwards..

Corals that hit the surface typically appear to encrust the water line. By that I mean they flatten out at the surface and grow round disks. That's been my experience with acros anyway, not sure what a birdsnest will do. Let it go so we can find out. always a shame to chop up mature colonies.

OK, let's let it go and see what happens
Then we'll all know

I agree it's a shame to bust it up and is why I needed some input

Yes, I was thinking it may disc out on the surface, Brad, as some of your's have in the past, and this has me concerned about light penetration
Here goes the experiment

I'd definitely let it grow to the surface to see what it does. Could be interesting, or it could just stop entirely and grow thicker at the bottom rather than the top :-)
