Man some high readings I think ours is is around 400 i thinki n Brandon. Not sure going t ocheck thou hear i thought that well water and Mountain water was the best in B.C it can get up there...... So soft water is the best i take it right.

I thought about getting a water softner for my house will that do anything to the water. and then If I run it thru the RO machine..

Doesn't matter how much you have been reading until you take the plunge.
You don't know as much as you think.

400+ out of the tap (town treated water, out of the Whitemud River)
3-5 after RO/DI

TDS goes through the roof during spring break up though - can't see the bottom of the bathtub for a few weeks

Mine is about 1500ppm from my well. I priced out getting a RO/DI system to be able to properly treat my water and it priced out at over $5000 plus I would have needed to add another room to my house (no basement) to house all the "stuff". I just buy bottled water which is a PITA with the amount of tanks I have.
If and when I build an addition to my house it will have a water treatment system in it.

Fish aside, with some of those big numbers, what's the cut off for people (Provincal guidelines etc)?

150ppm out of the tap here. My AquaFX Barracuda takes that to a steady 000ppm every time. I use culligan distilled water for major water changes though.
