Default AquaC Remora Overflow

I'm going to be away for almost 3 days this weekend and as I haven't got the Remora dialed in yet, I was a bit worried about it overflowing all over everything - mostly the livingroom carpet

I thought it would be nice to have an Overflow, so here's what I came up with.

I had some 1/2" ID Acrylic tubing alaying around, so I took a short piece and cut one end off on a 45 degree angle, and drilled a 1/2" hole in the side of the collection cup, not quite at the top of the riser pipe. (oops, sorry no pics, forgot about the camera)

Then I glued the tube onto the side of the collection cup.
You may notice, I put a little block under the tube to brace it, just in case I have a Hulk Moment when I'm putting the pipe on/off...

Then I drilled a 5/8" hole in the cap of a water bottle for the drain hose (1/2" ID, 5/8" OD) ...

Bottle with cap and hose in place ...

Collection cup on the skimmer ...

Drain hose attached to skimmer & water bottle ...

Auxillary Over-Drainage Device ...

And there you have it

Only took about 1 hour & now I have Peace of Mind!

Next week I'll probably do something to it and break it

Talking

Fast and functional !

On a separate note, is your remora quiet ? I was told these units were very quiet and, while mine's only been going 4 days (used unit) it is anything but quiet! (the wife tells me, in GREAT detail, how she can hear it clear across the house !).

Go to my other mod thread,
How to make a Remora act like an Urchin
And look at the "Lid" I made for over the injector.
This cuts down almost all the sound - Now its quiet!
You don't have to make it out of acrylic, The one I copied is made from the lid of a margarine container & they put airline tube around the edges to close the gap. I'll try to find a link to that page.
I've also seen threads that say you can just put a piece of foam in there (not blocking the spray) to cut down the noise quick-guide-aqua-c-remora-protein-skimmer

The Overflow worked great this weekend while I away. The collection cup filled and then the excess went down the pipe & out to the bottle

Thanks, Vic. I saw your other posts late last night but I couldn't visualize where your little acrylic creation went. With the links to the other pages I get it. I've got a full shop and can cut, bond and even heat-bend acrylic so I'm definately going to make a little silencer for my remora !

My wife thanks you !
