My body in general is alot older than I am I think. I put it through hell when I was competative and now I'm paying for it. The last year I played ball our team was in three different leagues, we were playing 3-6 games a week (Double headers on Wednesday followed by games on Thursday) and then there were practices. I was a catcher and ended up playing over 160 games that season. I first injured my shoulder when I was 14...lost 4 full rides to the states etc etc. So I got into soccer. You don't need a shoulder to play soccer! All it took was a bad take down and I tore my MCL and ACL...
bye bye competative soccer.

But there's no reason why I can't get back into shape. My dumb ass got me into this mess and I plan on getting myself out of it!

Thanks
I work at Impact Body Art, which is downtown, but know Paul well. Lucky you for getting him to work on you, I've known the man for 6 years and he won't tattoo me...he's more into doing the appearances now, he's put his time into the industry, it's time the industry look after him. The guy is one of the founding fathers of tattooing in Calgary, he has nothing but my respect...(except for when there's too much sake involved at the sushi house...then there usually is a sushi war....)

I usually drop the weight in the summer when I start biking again but the last couple of years I have been gaining more in the winter then I was dropping in the summer. It was time to add something different into the mix.. We'll see what this does for me. Can't hurt anyway.. or so I keep telling myself.

Meh, loving the medical system - finally got my appointment with Dr wiley (ortho - not surgeon) at the U of C sports med clinic today... Got refered April 9th - appt may 22nd... Luckily, sounds like I've actually done enough damage to my knee this time around to be a surgical candidate (they've been letting it get worse for the past few years because they don't think they can do further arthroscopic - too many already - thus it's gotta be 'bad' before they'll do more).

But like you guys - lb's have packed on over the past 5 years - mostly because I can't do much walking, hiking or biking before the knee flares up and I end up back on crutches... Yet last 2 years orthopaedic referals have gotten me all of 'you need to loose 60lbs to hit your BMI' - very useful information and advice, given about all I can manage because of the knee problems is 20-30 minutes a day on the eliptical trainer...

And the medical system wonders why people look at medical tourism...

my shoulder was in bad shape after the first surgery and I was reffered to Dr. Richard Boorman. All this guy does is shoulders and elbows and i was doing well after the second operation, but he told me that once you have a shoulder operation it's only a matter of time before you're looking at partial to complete replacement, which is what i'm looking at now...woot woot

You'll be like a cyborg! Make sure you don't get some of that self-aware metal though. I watch Terminator. Mmm, more Summer Glau kicking butt, please, and less of this "Sarah Conner's weirdo dreams" stuff. It's so depressing!

While looking around last year - had some long discussions with a surgeon down at johns hopkins; Pricing wasn't actually too bad - and unlike the canadian system; apparently in the states I have several options as to how to repair... Hoping this time around I get something done - if not, I'm going to end up pulling an rsp and heading south...

Same with knees - they keep telling me the more they go in the worse it'll get; but I can't qualify to even get on the replacement list until 40yrs of age... Without a catastrophic failure (lol, anyone wanna join me for some extreme skiing? Guaranteed you'll get a helicopter ride out!) I'm just in limbo for the moment...

Since we are talking war wounds.... blown knee to basketball scoped for that one and ended that..So i thought I thought I would take up a less dangerous sport and got into rugby and power lifting.......was told 4 years ago by the neurosurgon that I had to choose rugby or being able to walk do to major damage to my back...now i have to wate until narcotics won't control the pain before I get to have surgery....but so far it is all under control.
Worst part is I cannot use them as an excuse at home because my wife was mauled by a bear ...over 30 rib fractures and a broken back before I killed him...she always wins in that contest...LOL
