wow that is sooo cool. definitely scallop because of the eyes and definitely will need feeding since it's a scallop.

Something like DT's Phytoplankton or some sort of liquid algae. I think Kent makes a phytoplankton as well. You might have to take it out of the tank and "target" feed it (basically create a dense soup of algae that it can hang out and filter for an hour or so).

when i had scallops and oysters in my tank, stirring up the sand once in a while seemed to keep them happy with suspended detritus and other goodies...either that or I just made my water cloudy for no reason.

they filter feed on better stuff than detritus; if anything that practice is probably much more likely to just stress out the aquarium inhabitants. I agree with feeding phytoplankton as above.
