My Bubble Kings have been damn near silent. At least as silent as something that makes bubbles on purpose.

I have a SeaClone Protein Skimmer. I only have about 1.5 inch of opening between my glass lid and the rim of the tank for the pipes to go into the tank. Kind of limits the options

Seaclones are on the low end of the skimmer hierarchy and are known to be very loud and inefficient. I used to sleep right beside my old 20 gallon tank which ran AquaC Remora and I could barely hear it. They are cheap and old but works great. You can also look into aquamaxx HOB-1. Not sure about reef octopus though.

Weird part is skimmer sound is so relative that one skimmer that appears silent to one may be like a vacuum cleaner to someone else.
