Is there any other supports on the top of your tank?

Did the sides bow out? If so, you may want to re silicone it back. Empty the tank half way and use a large clamp to pull the sides back in. I had to do this once on a 48g.

like Brad said check for the sides bowing first. get something that is perfectly strait and about 1 to 2" shorter than the side and place if along the side. if it rocks more than a tiny bit then you need to put the brace back in. Mine only had bow of about 1/32" so I left it out and havent had a problem.

If mine popped off and all I got was a hair of movement, I'd be throwing the freakin' brace out the window. I would certainly not put it back. When my 48 popped, it bowed out 2.5 inches!!
