Default Abandoned rock?

I have about 40 pounds of what was once live rock in my thriving aquarium five years ago. It has been stored outside in an open bin covered in snow. Is there any hope in reintroducing this rock even as a base rock? If so what is the process?
Thanks ahead for any advice.

half the rock currently in my tank i grabbed from a storage bin in a friend's backyard. the rock was previously live and mixed in there with dirt, leaves and trimmings. i didn't acid wash i simply rinsed well and let it cycle without lights until parameters were ok.

I don't think this acid washing thing is needed at all but i'd totally love to try and the acid is cheap.

I am not keen on chemicals, I would do a good rinse / hosing down and a long soak in fresh water, and probably introduce one piece of rock into the tank at a time. One way I read about doing this (it was meant to DIY rock) was to put rock in the tank of a toilet so it would automatically get fresh water rinses several times per day.
