there is a u tube video of a reefer not connected to the company. and it shows him using it in his refuge. how to put it in without making a mess of your water. he says his nitrates are down and lots of pod growth corals opening up more. i was going to ask the same question as you. i think if i find it i will give it a try.

NewYorkSteelo has a YouTube page and is on FB. He is an honest guy and is passionate about reefing. He uses a system which works for him. Personally I know he praises Miracle Mud and deep sand beds for keeping his tanks healthy. I've watched all his videos and contacted him personally to discuss tank set ups. I have also learned that his method is not the only way to be successful. He is on a bit of a hiatus in regards to making videos but if you go on his FB page you can ask him questions there. He usually responds pretty quick.
