Definitely not too powerful for a 90 gallon. I have one in my 90 gallon and I am picking up a WP25 and mounting it in the other end just to stir up some dead spots. Probably overkill but what the heck!

Do you guys have WP40 stocked right now? One of mine just stopped workin.
