vortec pump Q's

i am wanting to upgrade to these pumps on a 92 gallon corner tank
i have seen a few posts with people selling mp40 saying just to much flow for there tanks.
dont want to be in same boat.
any thoughts on what would be best suited for this tank

IMO the MP40wES would be perfect for you.

People have one of two issues with these pumps. Too much flow, or too much noise.

If you run a MP40 at about 60% though … they're almost silent. Its when you use short pulse and crank the pump up that they become loud.

Running these pumps at 50% is easier on the motor, more desirable flow level, and they are much quieter than if you max them out.

Depends on what you're keeping in there. I have an MP 20, a 1200gph Hydor and a 500 gph power filter on my 20g sps tank.

My new 50g will have at least one MP 40, as it can be dialed down and my 20, plus return pump. I also prefer no wires in this tank.

You could also check out the knock offs, that many are using now. I think they come in a couple sizes also.

they are variable speed so just turn them down to what you like

I have two Mp40's on a 40g breeder tank that are dialled down to ~10-15% and running in anti-sync. Makes great random flow and is silent. I will be using ~5 Mp40's on my 270g. Albeit dialed up.

Yah MP40s are serious work horses. They're like Boeing 737s. They can be used in almost any application.

Only thing I'd suggest (and this is true of any internal powered) is to be aware of the backdraft that they create. they suck water up from the sides, bottom and surface, creating laminar flows opposite to the direction they're pushing water. If you put one right next to something like an overflow box this can create acceleration of the water that does weird things to coral growth forms. The best place to put them is where they've got as little restriction on either side of them as possible.

Personally I'd get the WP40s instead. I've had to have 3 of the Vortechs replaced on warranty. You can buy 3 of the Jeabos for the price of one MP40. Vortechs are great with all the options but far too noisy. Unfortunately with my new build they won't work for me so I traded them for Tunzes.
