Now my final debate is the extra $100 for the larger size on my 120 + 40(ish) gal sump

More money than I wanted to spend on a skimmer but the specs on these diablo skimmer pumps are just amazing with the 900 l/h of air vs 520 l/h air - from what I understand more air the better + pinwheel gets a finer skim to the needlewheel

Got the 120G cleaned up and filled with water! But I have to empty it the overflow has a small leak in it so it doesn't stop overflowing and causes the sump to overflow when the pump is off so now I have to find the spot where it's leaking and fix it.

Go with the diablo you will not regrete the extra $100. As for the leak, fill the OF with water and see where it leaks out always works for me.

It was just the difference between two diablo models - i had reef octopus help me out because both descriptions said 300G tanks.

I found the leak it's at the bottom of the overflow time to take all the water out to fix it!

Got the leak in the overflow fixed and the tank filled with water again. Got the DCS-170 ordered, sand and rocks coming to fill the tank up

only problem is the overflow is super loud - on my small tank to quiet it up i just used a simple ball valve but it's not working so good on this setup and the slip/slip setup the previous owner was using leaks and constantly drips water at the joints

I'm not sure what the best way to go from here is - the stand pipes in both overflows are different sizes and they are siliconed into the bulkhead it looks like and the bulkheads are also silconed to the glass

Should i replumb the setup and throw in new bulkheads / standpipes with two separate drains going into the sump or make minor adjustments to what i have?

Well after all the problems I finally have it all going!

The rock in the tank is just dry rock I got from reefsupplies.ca

I had the wooden canopy made by Bill - Bills woodworking in Delburn it was a really good price. I had to do a little modification because I didn't plan light placement very well but the end result works good

My Reef Octo- DCs-170 and i re plumped the tank from what i had bought it as so that i could get it dead silent.
