Man why the extra 8" !!!! This would have been perfect for me. I only have 8ft of room

What I don't get is why 8" of wall stays in the way of awesomeness?!? Grab your tools, tear it down, build an in-wall-type of "storage" or just give the extra 8" of room needed.
