New salts or if I am having issue.
I was having big three problems while using salinity on several occasions. I tested with CA 590/600, ALK 6.5, MG 1120. No where near analytical

Now back to reefers best

I previously tested both tank and new water for salinity, temperature, CA, ALK and MAG to ensure it's all the same. I'll also make some adjustments at this time to keep everything in the proper range. Now that I've switched to Reefers Best I find it's quite redundant.

I test the big 3 from the first batch of every new salt bucket, just to see what's up

+1, and I make sure I roll it tons to make sure it's mixed really well.

I buy IO in bulk, so I just test one of the buckets in the batch for cal, alk, mg, and pH after 12 hours mixing just to check for something funky. I mix up 100 gallons at a time, so I don't bother to mix the salt in the bucket.

I use H2Ocean for my reef tanks and I test each new bucket. I don't mix the salt because H2Ocean packs the salt in a tight-fitting bag so it doesn't move around and settle ime. I only make 20 gallons at a time. I test cal, alk, mg, K, and pH after 12 hours.

I stopped rolling my buckets sometime last winter and have found no reason to do it ever again
I'm getting consistent NSW so why should I ruin my basement carpet, or have the workout ?
Plus, if there's any free stuff in there, it's just gonna get messed up

I always had trouble keeping my alk up. Never really thought of testing my water changes but I have been recently and it was low in the new mixes. So I will always test for now on. I have also switched salts.

I've been having low Alk issues for a while so have been testing first batch made from every bucket. I do 50g changes every 10 days so have to test pretty regularly.
