![]() I have about a 3.5" Melanurus that powers into crushed coral/shell substrate. Not sure how he doesn't mark himself up but he has no troubles on the first attempt everytime. Substrate I would say ranges from 2mm up to about 6mm shell pieces.

![]() all my wrasses sleep in large substrate , same as the stuff in the tanks at the store. they seem to have no trouble with it , their beaks are made for piercing the gravel.
if the sand bed is too shallow they will dive into glass damaging their beaks. |
