the water level is influenced by a few different variables that is why everyone's is different. for instance, the pump you are running, the amount of air you are inducing and how thick you like your foam. so depending on these factors you could have different water levels.
now if you have a specific problem or what you think is a problem let us know and we can try help you determine how you need to set up your skimmer. Steve
