80 degree's is what I'm at, and have been told and read that keeping your temp. constant is what's more important than what you are set for.

Not really. I used to run at 76 steady. Switched to 79 and see much more growth at this temp. The last thread on this linked a couple of articles on metabolism of corals as a function of temperature, prompting me to raise mine. It was a good move.
Although, once I hit a point where growth is getting excessive, I can drop it lower to retard growth rates.

77 (when lights off). Goes up to 79 (with lights on). Can reach 80-82 (on a really hot day in the summer). Cooling fans kick in at 80. Lights automagically cut out if tank hits 83.
