egg crate panels tied with zip ties. Keeps fish from jumping, easy to cut and fit around cords/HOB skimmer/light clamps, can leave open top in center where there's light, like so...
![]() doubled the lights ![]() downside... evaporation, small fish can fit through holes (gobies), not the most attractive |

currently open top and loving it! downside is the evaporation and my hand being in the tank all the time these days since it's so easy.
bought the 1/2" clear mesh from BRS for the 400 and never got around to making a cover. bought the 1/4" for my current tank and can't bring myself to cover it either lol. |

My plan is to build a parameter wall at my euro brace edge 6" tall. Basically fish will have to jump about 8" at the right angle to escape, I'm betting they can't do that. Seems easier than dealing with a full mesh top plus in the past I've seen some fish jump through nets and then land on top quickly drying out under the lighting.
