Default have an issue with a branching Hammer

Hi all!

I bought a Green tip pink branching hammer. It Has a lot of heads on it and obviosly came from a very large peice. The branches are rather weak. I have to be very careful not to hold it too tightliy between my fingers while placing it or it crumbles.

Is that the result of poor calcium levels where it came from or is this normal? the Frogspawn and other hammer I have seems harder and more stable.

I've ordered a frag kit and was wondering if it would be best to cut it right down and place the peices on discs. I now have 2 seperate peices from trying to place it, the one with the most heads on it is in the worst shape and it just doesn't seem to be doing as well.
