They are in the plumbing aisle with things like water lines, taps etc, not with the ball valves

It looks like a John Guest ball valve. A lot of the LFS may have them or try a bottled water sales store. Lots of places to get them on-line depending if you can wait for shipping or not if your hardware box stores don't have one.
