little bit of news......a couple of dwarf angels from a canreefer ended up at the shop....a potters and a flameback......I have always wanted a potters and being that this one was from someone's tank made him very attractive......I pmed the guy to see why it was the fish needed a new home, thinking perhaps it was doing some coral sampling.....he got back to me saying that the angels just didnt fit in with the stocking plans for the new tank.....this got me humming and hawing...........problem is I already have a DW coral beauty and the potters is similar in color and size.....I was sure that my CB would jump in the new angel, the question was how bad would the initiation be...I debated for over a week and when I went back to the shop last w/e they were both still there.....I briefly had the stupid idea to take both the potters and the flameback to disperse the aggression that was sure to happen......but I was too chicken to try that......in the end I decided to take the flameback instead.......he got jumped in hard.....and I mean hard, by my CB and my powder blue.....so hard that I had to divide my tank in two with nets to give the poor little guy a couple hours to at least catch his breath from being moved.....I left the nets in until the lights went out and went to work the next day fully expecting to come home to either a thoroughly beat up fish, a floating fish, or a CCC(crispy carpet critter) ......I got home to a flameback out and about, swimming around like he had been in the tank for monthes, with just a couple marks (nothing major) and a CB with a few marks.....I couldnt believe that the little flameback(half the CBs size) took a piece out of the CB......full of pi$$ and vinegar the little guy is, which is probably a good thing all things considered......he's been in the tank for a week now and while there is still some tension between the two angels I think its safe to say that the two should be able to tolerate each others existence.....at least for the time being.....

I liked the dendros that Im babysitting so much that I decided to try my first ever duncan

panda goby.....not the best pic but.....

and one of my porcelain crabs wearing his grand poobah/ marching band conductor type hat

That's great Doug! I like to hear success stories; so many times it doesn't work out with the new additions.

I am usually so cautious about what I add and I tend to hum and haw forever about it because I know that if a fish is small, my coral beauty or mystery wrasse will "jump in" and if the fish is large the tangs will "jump in".....it kinda makes adding a new fish a roll of the dice.....but I guess that holds true for every tank....you really never know how the addition will effect the dynamics of the tank.....

I had another success story........the same w/e that I brought home the flameback, I decided to bring home Winky the one eyed shrimp goby....this fish had been at the shop for over a year nobody wanted him because of his disability.....with the upcoming shop move I thought I would bring him home......problem is I already have a shrimp goby in the tank.....the one I have is way over at the very end of the tank so I gambled, thinking that Winky would have the entire rest of the tank to find a home......so home he came and when it came time to release him I took him in my hand and placed him at the opposite end of the tank......a couple days past without seeing him, then one evening at feeding time I see him come out of my original goby's hole.....I thought "Uh-Oh"......"wheres my other goby?....Did he get evicted?" ......another couple days pass, feeding time again and what do I see?.....both shrimp gobies come out of the same hole......I cant believe my dumb luck.....I thought for sure that there would be goby wars if the two of them met up, but instead, they paired up........Winky has been in the tank for a couple weeks now and seems to be doing well....I have noticed that he does seem to have some trouble tracking food as it blasts by in my super-flow tank.....he sometimes misses and has to wait for another piece of food to fly by....his disability seems to have made him a lot bolder than most gobies, he will actually travel quite far to chase down food, out of necessity no doubt.....really stoked that my gobies paired up tho

heres a couple crappy pics through dirty glass ( the first time Ive seem the two of them out together since I added Winky)....Winky is the larger or the two and showing off his better side in these pics....

Nice. A Pistol Shrimp would probably kill Winky due to his disability so it's nice to see him pair up with another Goby.

ya think so?.....one thing for sure he wouldnt last long in the wild with only one eye...someone had to take pity on the little guy...the pairing up was nothing but dumb luck....
