i know everyone asks this question and i am no different, i have tried almost everything excited RO/ID water.

i have tested my tap water for what i can water test came back with nothing, do most reefers out there use RO water in there setups?

In a word, yes.

Municipal water can vary from location to location (even between 2 streets in the same town) and from time to time.

Keeping a reef setup is complex enough; you don't need the water gods rolling the dice on you each time you open the tap.

Get an RO/DI system. It pays for itself. Period.

remember if you buy O water be carefull. You are playing russian roulette with that hoping they keep updated with filter changes. Also test for PH.

Yeah id suggest using it, it will just make things easier and you will have more sucess. If you decide against it you will want to invest in a good skimmer.
