Freaky thing is they can be anywhere from almost microscopic to 30cm long! Yuck! lol.

Most of the small isopods in your tank are beneficial scavengers and do not harm fish. There are species like this that are fish parasites. But trying to remove all the isopods from your tank is probably not necessary.

i had a bunch that i caught by putting a piece of shrimp in a glass in the tank but mine were way smaller

I had those. It turned out not to be such a big deal as they are pretty easy to catch. I was pretty concerned when I first saw one attached to my yellow tang, though!
