I had a spotted(falcos) hawk that ate a full size cleaner shrimp. The shrimp was just about the same length. It took him a couple of days to swallow. It also ate my hermits. It would wait till one got close and then grab the hermit before the hermit could pull into its shell. I think you have better luck if you add the hawkfish after the shrimp.

Hawkfish are predators.
Do you have any other fish in your tank
