help to newbie about overflow

hi all. i am new in saltwater aquarium. i am planning to get a overflow box. the problem is which brand name is the best. i have been searching 2 different brand name. eshop and cpr. has anyone tested 1 of them out? or if you have had any other brand name that helps me a lot

Life-reef is the only overflow box I would trust.......as far as I would trust an overflow box anyway.....I would seriously consider drilling the tank... cheaper than an overflow box and no risk of it failing and flooding your house.

+1. If the tank isn't full of water yet, get it drilled, and install an internal overflow.

Definately drill and imo, go with a herbie style overflow, has always worked for me, dead silent too. If you need help lemme know.

thanks guys. but i already put some water and fishes, snails, and crabs. it will be kinda hard for me at this time.

I used to have a 45 gallon with overflow and it does not work very well for me, almost got a flooding floor once, so I can't recommend anything here. But +1 to get a drill tank, it will make your life easier. Maybe try to find a used drilled tank for cheap and transfer your live stock over. May has to pay a little more than overflow but you will be a happy man in a long run

Since the tank is already filled, I would just skip the sump. Buy a Deltec skimmer (the only HOB skimmer that's decent IMO) if you want a good skimmer. I know a couple people who have drained their tanks halfway and drilled the back panes. I wouldn't do it, but they didn't have any troubles. That's a thought if you're brave (or crazy).

If you don't want to drill, as already suggested by fishytime, get a Lifereef. I've tried quite a few times to make mine fail, but it has always prevailed!

I use an overflow....never had or have had any problems...no flooding...they are self priming if the power goes off......I have used them for more than 15 years....different ones..imo....it is easy to upgrade your tank...or downgrade and you never have to have a drilled tank....right now I have one on a 72 bowfront.....just buy a larger pumo than what the rating is...that stops bubbles getting caught in the syphon tube.....even if bubbles build up..the flow does not stop...just slows up a bit...
The last one I bought was from blue world when Mike still had the store...but I am very positive Ken could get you one
