In terms of light dispersion I honestly feel you will achieve similar results with either fixture. The Space Light EX is the newest lighting product line put out by Aqua Medic. We have had them both here in stock and the Space Light EX is a much nicer, sleeker and more modern looking fixture IMO.

Its not very often that cheaper and nicer fall into the same sentence but it is nice when they do

If you are looking for better light dispersion, then you will want the Lumen Bright reflectors but you will also find a decent price jump as the DE reflector alone if $185.

Ocean Light Pendant HQI

When you need the ultimate in flexibility for lighting very small or very large systems, Oceanlight Pendants offer amazing results in a powerful, compact package. Space Light EX HQI

The Spacelight EX is the next generation family of lighting products from Aqua Medic. They are packed with all the best attributes of the renowned Spacelight series including the finest German bulb holders, superior reflectors, and aluminum housings in a fine powder coat finish. They also boast the best of the Oceanlight series with a variety of sizes and formats, competitive prices and all external ballasts. Even the T5 ballasts are externally cord mounted! All HQI lamps are powered by US made Reeflex Cube magnetic ballasts (included).

Reeflex Ballast (included with the Space Light EX)

The Reeflex Cube magnetic ballasts for HQI lamps are an exciting mix of tried-and-true technology and innovative design. The head-turning cube housing certainly makes these ballasts stand out in a crowd but they are not just a pretty face. The advanced cooling architecture features a top mounted fan crowning 4 well ventilated walls for unprecedented breathing room. This means that every component inside gets a generous stream of life-extending fresh air. Life expectancy is a major consideration here and is among the reasons these ballasts were born magnetic. Of course magnetic ballasts deliver a bit more punch than their electronic cousins but that is only half of the story. Every component of this ballast is easily accessible and replaceable by even the least mechanically inclined. This means a lifetime of high performance and minimal down-time. Instead of throwing away an electronic ballast and buying a new one, the Reeflex Cube magnetic ballast can be kept running inevitably with very little effort or expense.
