thanks to both of you. Urbanhellfire, what did you end up buying? If i buy Ro water from the water store and then ru nit through a DI like the one JL sells, would that essentially be the same thing? I guess the hard part would be to pressurize the water going to the DI unit as it seems to be set up for a tap. Guess i answered my own question.

What are good units that are reasonably priced? I am not adding to a sump, just into a 5 gal bucket once per week to do my water changes.

Thishttp://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ro...+-+50+GPD.html is the one that I have. Its 199, but has never given me any issues. I have nothing bad to say about it, so far.

Hey I looked at this on the weekend. One of the guys at Big Al's told me to go to HD as they are cheaper there. He said these are usually overpriced because they are specifically made for aquarium use.

I have not checked HD.......anyone have one? Might be worth checking out.

That's awful advice. There's good reason that the coralife units are more expensive, they use pretty decent cartridges which last much longer. The membranes probably have a better rejection rate too although I've never looked.

I use a SpectraPure 4 stage and it has operated flawlessly.
