Default It is rated for 264 gallons but

It depends allot on what you are planning on keeping - sps, lps, how many fish, etc.

I had it running on a 90 gallon with sump. Worked well - I upgraded skimmers because I am working towards keeping sps - and they are more demanding for low nutrients.
