Thanks. Not sure but think the big softener theye installed will remove up to 5ppm but of course thats just a rating. I will ask him to look inside the toilet tanks. I know when they purchased the place, it had no filtration on the well, so the systems were getting raw well water before and there are likely iron stains still from that. They have replaced most of the taps and so on.

When I was on a well, my large particulate filter, {same model}, had a lot of crap and sludge in it at change time but never red like theirs.
