If the product is made in the U.S. there's no duty. If it's made in another country besides the U.S. or Canada there will be a duty. Usually around 5%. Watch out for extra shipping charges if shipping straight to Canada. Places like UPS rape you on "brokerage" fees. What I do is have everything shipped to a mailbox in Blaine WA, which saves alot in shipping charges and it also saves alot of time. Then I just pick it up there and decide whether I want to declare it or not coming back If you do then tax and duty may apply, but you'll still save on shipping.

Remember Free Trade? There is usually no duty, but they will charge $5.00 for handling (they have to make money somehow now that they can't charge duty). They will also charge GST based on Canadian price.
