the plastic boards are not that good actually, all i had around so i used them. next time it will be glass. the dsb seems to work good. there is layers of black in it but i have always used a dsb this deep and found them very effective. i had a 40g hex that was a non photosynthetic tank with tube anemones and feed heavy. no problems at all with a 8" dsb.

Thank you all for the nice comments. now all i have to do is wait and let everything grow for a couple years. Maybe add some more frogspawn and zoas. i am going to let the gsp cover the back wall and try to get some more types of macro algae for the sump.

Here are 2 of my latest acquisitions. These zoa's where under some pc lights so there a little long right now but are shrinking down some. i love the color on them already and cant wait to see if they brighten up over the next month. i also bought a ball of red macro algae and when i got home found this pom pom crab on the bottom so that was a great deal. got the macro and zoa's and pom pom crab for $40. not a bad deal.

Well the tank has been running for over 5 months, so far so good. just picked up a beautiful hammer coral and it is now the center piece of the tank. I bet by summer this whole tank will be a Euphyllia forest and not just a frogspawn forest lol.

I will take another pic in a week once the hammer had gotten used to the tank.
