As an aside, I drilled my sumps last night for 2" bulkheads. I got my 3" drill bit from glass-holes.com for $14. They also have a 'how-to' drill a glass hole video on their website.

Thx Jay,

Both of them snapped cracks in the panel just as the drill bit got to the other side. I don't know if I screwed it up or if it's because the glass was pretty thin. It occurs to me I've never drilled anything thinner than 4.5mm before (this was 1/8" or about 3mm thick I think).
![]() I feel pretty bad about it. I've drilled easily 20-30 holes before and only had glass break on me in 2 or 3 cases, and usually there was a reason. One time it was because I lost my balance and fell forward onto my sump as I was drilling it. Another time was because I was drilling on the vertical into a running tank, probably the riskiest scenario of all.

Like I said yesturday, dont worry about it Tony. It is pretty thin glass and I appreciate you helping me out. I do have alot of scrap glass now thou if I ever need baffles or anything
Hopefully the attempt tonight goes better as its the last tank I got. Ill let you know tomorrow. If it dont work I might just go order a tank predrilled.

oh wow, 1/8"? That would be tricky. I probably would have cracked my 1/4" if I didn't have a clutch on my drill. It snagged just as I was finishing up.
