Default Macro Algae Light Requirements

I was trying to find information about Macro algae light requirements and came across the following really good general artical on Macro Algae...

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-01/sl/index.php

In it they quote that you need anywhere from 60 - 150 PPFD depending on the algae.

Anyone have any clue how to convert those units to number of PC bulbs per gallon?

Might be a lost cause but I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks,

Jon.

Thanks for the link I have not had a chance to read the article, but for algae growth you want around 5500k to 6500k for best growth.
They need a lot more than just light though and will clash in low nutrient systems.

You can simply use CFL Daylight bulbs in clip-on lights over your refugium to grow macro. They are 6500k & I use the Phillips 27w ones.

Many people grow all sorts of macro no problem with PC bulbs. I use a Philips 23w spiral "daylight" bulb (6500k) and I grow plenty of chaeto.
