I use $15 JBJ Digi-Temp thermometers and they all read the same as my AquaFX TDS meter (which has a thermometer on it too). My floaters read differently, as do the stick on ones. When I buy the JBJ ones I check all the ones on the rack, and you'll often see there is one or two reading a bit different...don't buy those ones.

What if the two that are off are the ones with the right temps?

I say if there are 10 of them on the shelf and two are reading a different number, then likely the 8 that are reading the same would be right...so far it seems to have worked since they all agree with eachother right now, and all of them were bought at different times from different places.

I have a Marina Aquaminder. From the sounds of it maybe I should consider it suspect?

I found as my JBJ digital thermometer got covered in coralline, it became less accurate. I prefer the glass floater as it is glass, and easy to clean off. It came to the point my jbj one was 8F off.....

Do you keep your floaters in the display or the sump?
