I bought my tank through Golds, maybe send Albert a message and their tank builder could cut you the plastic that he uses to your required size

You could use some of the corrugated plastic that signs are made of. Probably available at Home Depot or any sign shop.

Why not just a black or blue piece of acrylic?

You could use eggcrate. Then string chaeto through it. When the chaeto fills out, it will look like a hedge.

What the builder did on mine was simply silicone 1/8" black acrylic sheet around the overflows.
